Black Seed – Raw – Organic – Nigella Sativa – Egypt
Nigella seeds have many names including kalonji in India and charnushka in the USA. They are often mistakenly called Black Onion Seeds or Black Cumin, which is an entirely different spice. These unique seeds have herbaceous oregano notes and a toasted onion flavour. They are often lightly toasted or used raw as a sprinkle on salads, breads, potatoes, in pickles and on other vegetables. Nigella seeds have been used for both culinary and medicinal purposes for thousands of years and are native to the Mediterranean although cultivated mostly in India and Egypt, where they were found in King Tut’s tomb.
